Chandigarh is one of the earliest planned cities in post-independence India and is internationally known for its architecture and urban design. Chandigarh’s Capitol Complex – as part of a global ensemble of Corbusier’s buildings—was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO at the 40th session of the World Heritage Conference in July 2016.
The union territory has one of the highest Human Development Index among Indian states and territories. In 2015, a survey by LG Electronics ranked it as the happiest city in India on the happiness index.

Venue & Travel Info
Several direct buses are available from cities such as Shimla (115 km), Mussoorie (195 km), McLeod Ganj (270 km), Kullu (260 km), Dharamsala (275 km) and Delhi (240 km). NH 1 connects Chandigarh with Delhi, which takes around 4 to 5 hours.
Chandigarh Junction Railway Station (CDG) is the main railhead of the city. It serves both short and long-distance trains to and from neighbouring cities like Delhi, Ambala, Panipat, Shimla and many more.
Chandigarh International Airport serves not only Chandigarh but neighbouring cities of Panchkula, Mohali and even some of the southern districts of Himachal. The international airport operates flights of 7 airlines including Indigo, Spicejet and Air India which connect Chandigarh with several national and international destinations. Travellers can either take private cabs or public transport like buses, autos to reach different parts of the city from here.
